CABARETS AT THE EMBER CLUB
“Miles Mykkanen makes a big impression.”
The Guardian
“Mykkanen was uproarious, but not grotesque, as the opera’s two old women.”
The New York Times
“Mykkanen sang and spoke feelingly and superbly, with crystalline diction, a powerful lyric sound seemingly capable of infinite dynamic gradations.”
Opera Magazine
International tenor Miles Mykkanen headlines The Ember Club in an evening of torch songs and melodies from the heart.
The genre-defying tenor has electrified audiences at Joe’s Pub, The Neue Galerie, The Metropolitan Museum and, of course, Emberlight in Sing Happy and last summer’s Characters. For two performances only audiences can experience Miles’ virtuosity through songs that will tug at your heartstrings and hilarious stories from nights spent around the world.
Miles Mykkanen garners recognition and praise on the world’s concert and operatic stages for his “focused, full-voiced tenor” (New York Times). After making his Carnegie Hall recital debut at 23 years old and completing three degrees at The Juilliard School, Miles has become a regular at The Metropolitan Opera and has sung lead roles at San Francisco Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Canadian Opera Company, Chicago Opera Theatre and Tanglewood. Earlier this year Miles Mykkanen’s debut at the Royal Opera House in London was hailed as “A discovery” (Opera Today) and launched his European career with upcoming debuts in Munich, Amsterdam and Glyndebourne.
