REACHING FOUR

Following a horrific accident, young mum Clare, a chronic OCD sufferer, has become isolated from her family. She’s at a tipping point, trapped by her overpowering condition yet terrified of losing those she loves.

With many professional acting and producing credits already under her belt, this is Katherine Press‘ second project as Writer/Director. Her first, HELP! I’VE STOLEN AMY ADAMS’ NOSE! won Best Comedy at its first festival and Best Low Budget Film at its second, and has gone on to win both British Comedy Guide Pro’s Production Award, and the Audience Choice Award at Exit 6 Film Festival, to be nominated for Best Comedy, Best Director and Best Comedic Performance at Deep in the Heart Film Festival, shortlisted for Performance Film & Media Insurance’s Short Film Competition, and to be selected for the BIFA-qualifying The Shortest Nights, amongst others.

REACHING FOUR, starring Pippa Haywood and Ben Lamb, was supported by OCD UK. It is on Festival Formula’s slate. It premiered at Peekskill Film Festival and won Best Drama at Anatolia International Film Festival.

Her latest completed project, BEST OF THREE, won the Talkies Short Film Commission, and her film collaboration with Josh Elwell (Lead Puppeteer, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, Jim Henson Company, Dr Who) reached the Finals of prestigious The Pitch Film Fund 2023.

Producing credits include BFI Network-funded short A NOBLE TRUTH, directed by Tia Salisbury (LSFF/Encounters/Omeleto); Grierson Award-shortlisted documentary BABIES & BELLYBOARDS; and MILK, drama short supported by The Samaritans, longlisted for BIFA Best British Short ’22 (Brussels/Aesthetica/Bolton/Norwich/Offline/Exit6/Indy/Poppy Jasper).

Katherine’s acting credits include CAPTAIN AMERICA, FOYLE’S WAR, Stephen Poliakoff’s DANCING ON THE EDGE, and Ophelia in Sir Trevor Nunn’s ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD. She also has a busy voiceover career, and as a member of the BBC Rep Company, narrated the unabridged JANE EYRE for BBC Sounds, and Margaret Atwood’s Booker Prize-winning sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, THE TESTAMENTS, for BBC Radio 4.

Katherine trained at Central School of Ballet before studying at the University of Cambridge. During her MA in Film and TV at Falmouth University (2016-17), she was a winner of University Women in the Arts, in conjunction with the Women of the Future Programme, receiving mentoring from leading female figures in the arts world. Whilst at Falmouth, her first feature script was shortlisted for BAFTA Rocliffe. She now works for John Yorke (ex-Controller of BBC Drama) at his screenwriting company John Yorke Story.

Katherine is a member of BFI Network x BAFTA Crew, and a BAFTA and BFI Film Academy Mentor. She is currently being mentored herself by Johnny Fewings, ex-MD of Universal Pictures.
