Emberlight Festival Gears up for Art In The Park: Light Your Fire Grand Opening and Other Upcoming Events

The Emberlight Festival, an annual celebration that produces world-class art within the natural beauty of Michigan’s western Upper Peninsula, is pleased to announce Art In The Park: Light Your Fire as part of its 2021 event schedule.

Art In The Park is a large-installation art show hosted by the Miners Memorial Heritage Park.  Previously seen from 2015-2017, the Emberlight Festival has committed to producing Art In The Park every year to continue the rich tradition of this successful event. The show premieres this Friday, July 2 and will be open to the public through September 5. Public voting will take place July 2 through September 3.  Art in the Park: Light Your Fire is sponsored by the Ironwood Tourism Council.

Art In The Park installations will be juried by a panel of industry professionals independent of the western Upper Peninsula. A total of $3,000 in prizes will be awarded. The prize announcement will take place on  September 3, 2021, at Ironwood’s First Friday Event.  The audience prize is underwritten by the Paul J. Castagna fund.

In addition to the visual art installations, Art in the Park includes free experiences in the park including: Performance Art, Book Clubs, and ‘Story Walk’ for children. The Curry Trail section in the park will feature children’s art. The Performance Art Infusion includes demonstrations and entertainers that can be enjoyed at site #18 on the Aurora Loop at 1:00 PM CDT on Saturdays throughout the summer: July 10, 24, 31 and August 7, 14, and 21.  The Book Club will meet on July 19 and August 16 at 7:00 PM at site 18. Book selections will focus on diversity, inclusion and the environment and will be announced in June. For more information or to view the full schedule, visit: www.emberlight.org
