Emberlight Opens Three Art Shows

IRONWOOD –  Come help us kick off 4th of July weekend and the 2022 Emberlight Festival! After unveiling Mary Burns’ award-winning Ancestral Women Exhibit: Wisconsin’s 12 Tribes and the Emberlight Photographers(generously sponsored by The Leather & Gift Shop) show on July 1 at 4 PM in the Historic Depot Museum, saunter over to the Historic Ironwood Theatre for an evening of independent film beginning at 7:30 PM.

Experience screenings of award-winning and fan favorite films from the 2021 International Film Festival. Last year’s winners sent in shorts, animation, and documentaries from across the United States, Argentina, China, Pakistan, and more!  Then we’ll give a sneak peek of what films are making their debut at the 2022 International Film Festival from August 20 – 27. Come with friends and enjoy what Ironwood does best: Art, film, and beautiful summer nights in the heart of our beloved town. Emberlight’s Opening Night is generously sponsored by the Ironwood Chamber of Commerce.

Then join us again on July 2 for the Grand Opening of Art in the Park, one of the Emberlight Festival’s premiere events. Artists from across the upper Midwest create original installations using the greatest canvas of all: Mother Nature.

Artists were asked to create installations inspired by Emberlight’s 2022 Festival theme: Horizons • Heritage • Harmony. Following Emberlight’s mission to provide accessible art to our community, these large creations will be featured throughout the Miners Memorial Heritage Park, along the Aurora Loop.

Come discover the incredible local and regional visual artists in nature and the work it inspires on Saturday, July 2 from 12 – 2pm. As a special treat, our 2022 Poet Laureate, Christy Schwan, will be reading her winning poems at this great event. Christy is a rockhound, wild berry picker, wildflower seeker, astronomy studier, and quiet sports lover of canoeing, snowshoeing and loon spotting. She’s been writing for over fifteen years, and has focused on poetry since retiring two and a half years ago.

All three of these events are FREE and open to the public, donations welcome. Gear up for a busy summer featuring all of these amazing Emberlight experiences. Ticket passes are on sale now with individual tickets to follow on July 1. Check out the new Emberlight website at emberlight.org, view the calendar of events and purchase tickets. Questions?
